This is unusual in the world of illegal downloads, which sometimes sees the biggest releases available to a wider audience weeks in advance of a proper theatrical release.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens only came out two weekends ago, and pirated copies of the movie did not start showing up on bit torrent sites until several days after its release.
